Abstract: We describe a new species of Xenosaurus freom the Sierra Madre del Sur in Oxaca and compare it to all the other species in the genus. The new species differs freom the others by having 26 white spots on the infrealabiallabiomental region on either side of the head. as well as the following combination of character states: second chinshields usually in medial contact with each other, few lamellae under the fourth toe (1922, (x) over bar = 19.4), and a short tail (tail length/snoutvent length ratio 0.730.79). The new species was collected in the crevices of small boulders in oak forest at about 2000 m elevation and is most similar to X. rectocollaris freom southeastern Puebla.
