Title: | Stability of a liquid film flowing down a rotating cylinder subject to azimuthal disturbances |
Authors: | DavalosOrozco, LA Ruíz, G |
Issue Date: | 1996 |
Abstract: | The growth rate of instability for the azimuthal modes m = +/-1 of a fluid layer flowing down the inside and the outside of a slowly rotating cylinder is obtained analytically in the long-wave approximation. Here in contrast to a previous paper (Phys. Fluids A 5 (1993) 2390) the effects of the Coriolis force have been included. It is found that in some circumstances the mode m = -1 is the most unstable. It is shown that the results for these modes without rotation have the linear results of Shlang and Sivashinsky (J. Phys. France 43 (1982) 459) as particular case. |
