Abstract: | The vegetative morphology of the adult plant, chromatographic profiles of alkaloids, kauranoic glycosides and glycoresins peridermic pigments and root starch, were compared of varieties of Ipomoea batatas (L:) Lam., known in Mexico as red and ''camote''. The two varieties could be distinguished by their external morphology, chromatographic profiles of the alkaloids and glycoresins, peridermic pigments and amount of starch in the roots. |
