| Abstract: | We study the ground-state configurations of dipolarly interacting particles on a square lattice by applying a method of searching among all periodic arrangements for that of minimum energy. Our results explain the phases observed for alkali adsorption on FCC(100) transition metals and also some intriguing absences. |
