During an research cruise of the Instituto de Ciencias del Mar y Limnología, UNAM, at norther of the Yucatán Península, deep trawls (< 200 m) with a shrimp net were carried out. Several shark samples were registered. Among them, species previously unknown from Mexican seas are reported. The diagnosis of these three types of sharks, one corresponding to the families Scyliorhinidae and two to Squalidae, is given with a brief description of the subfamily Oxynotinae, which is registered for the first time in the limits of México's seas. The importance of the findings highlighted in relation to shark diversity in México and their biogeographic studies.
