Abstract:
(Salicylaldehyde-4-phenylthiosemicarbazidato) ammonium dioxovanadate(V), {1, NH4[VO2(PhSNO)]}, was synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic and magnetic measurements. Its crystal and molecular structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction which shows it to be the first example of a dioxovanadate(V) complex in which the vanadium is also linked to a sulfur atom. The PhSNO moiety is a bivalent, tridentate ligand. The V atom has the common square-pyramidal coordination geometry, which is compared with that found in other dioxovanadate(V) structures. The complex is linked to the NH4+ ion by a net of hydrogen bonds. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
