Abstract:
Two maize genotypes with different response to Spodoptera frugiperda attack, were grown in the field under two different light regimes: covered or not with UV-absorbent plastic, and under infestation conditions or not. Chromatographic profiles of flavonoids were run and a bioassay was carried out in order to determine the effect on the insect diet of two concentrations of the leaf methanolic extract. Differences occurred in the number and location of the spots in the flavonoid profiles of the two lines and also in the response of larvae to the leaf methanolic extract containing diet.
