Abstract:
Stems of Cuscuta americana L., C. arvensis Beyr., C. corymbosa R. & P. var. stylosa Engelm. and C. tinctoria Mart. were analyzed to elucidate the influence that seasonal changes may have an the synthesis of ergoline alkaloids, glycoresins and karuanoic glucosides. From samples of the four species, collected in the rainy season as well as in the dry season, the chromatographic profiles of the 3 groups of compounds were determined, using as references standard markers. The ergoline alkaloids were found only during the rainy season in all samples, whereas the glycoresins and the kauranoic glucosides are produced during both seasons and with a different distribution pattern far each species.
