dc.description.abstract The postulates and methodology of the version of extended irreversible thermodynamics developed in Mexico are presented. Mention is made of the main features which make it different from other existing versions. The ionized gas modeled as a binary mixture is discussed to illustrate the approach. Some limitations and perspectives are also pointed out. en_US
