dc.description.abstract Croton carpostellatus B. L. Leon & Martinez-Gordillo, a new species from Chiapas, Mexico, is described and illustrated. This new species belongs to Croton L. sect. Eluteria Grisebach, and it appears similar to C. schiedeanus Schlechtendal, although it differs in its ovary and capsule with stellate trichomes. A dichotomous key for distinguishing closely related taxa is included. en_US
